Well, we're Kyle and James, a pair of outdoor lovers and enthusiasts. Whether it's cooking during a frosty evening on old-school, alcohol-burning stoves or paragliding high in the skies, we've been on the quest towards optimizing our gear loadouts for a long time.

Realizing how absolutely exhausting it is to research, compare, and choose the right piece of equipment, we've developed a simple tool to help simplify the process.

And thus, Ultralight Gear Picker, and this companion site, Ultralight Pack Picker, was born!

This is our way of supporting the communities we've learnt so much from - forums like Camino de Santiago or r/ultralight, now we're wanting to help others - beginner or expert, to help simplify and narrow down that selection process into a simple 4-step quiz.

There are no paid placements on this site, no fluff, no filler. Only the hand-picked, absolute best of the best gear that we have personal experience with.

I personally have tried on hundreds of backpacks, compared them heavily, and gone on ridiculous adventures around the world; navigating the torrential tunnels of Madeira to cooking a Reindeer steak while snow camping in the high Arctic before flying down.

The gear selected on this and all of our websites is absolutely and undoubtedly the best of the best, and we would never recommend anything substandard or mediocre in order to pad our own pockets.
